Teach me all that I must do to live with Him some day.

On Thursday, January 12th, 2012 Brad and I welcomed our 3rd baby...Haven Claire, into the world at 4:51pm, weighing 7 lbs 2 oz and at 19.25 inches long. She’s beautiful!
On Tuesday I started having some lower back pain and cramping and so knew we were getting close to meeting our baby. On Thursday (the 12th) I had my regular weekly visit (37 weeks - I was really 36 and 6 but Thurs were better appt days since kiddos were at school). I saw my midwife (Tiffany) and explained what I was feeling....she checked me and I had dilated a bit more to 4.5 cm but this time I was 90% effaced, was in early stages of labor and had a slightly elevated blood pressure. She decided it was best to send me over to the hospital. Original due date was 2/3/2012.
I quickly came home to finish packing my bag, wait for Brad and get kiddos carseats to Teresa....she kept them for us! They were so excited!
We arrived at the hospital at little after 12 noon and they immediately brought me to a room. Tiffany checked me again and I had already dilated to 5cm by that time. She made the right call - this baby wanted to come out! By 4:45 I told Tiffany I really wanted to push and 6 minutes later our baby GIRL was here! We were shocked - we really thought I was having a boy just based on how I was carrying. As Tiffany was pulling the baby out she said, “Let’s let Dad make the call...what are you baby?” and she pointed the baby towards daddy...Brad just stared because he was so shocked and then I sat up and screamed “It’s a GIRL!?!” Tiffany laid her on my belly and I cried and cried just holding that perfectly gooey baby girl! She just laid on me for 20 minutes till they ask if I wanted them to wipe her off for me and weigh her. I immediately got her back and began to feed her...which was beautiful. She never left my sight....they even gave her the 1st bath right there in our room...I loved that.
It was the most perfect day - I was surrounded by the love of family and friends, had great nurses, an awesome midwife and we just laughed all afternoon. Our cousin, Wendy, and her daughter Wynn were there again as my videographer and support team and my sweet friend, Kerri, was able to make it and capture the moment in pictures for us. Teresa and Troy kept emailing me little video clips of the kids and it really added to the day! They were so excited to hear the news!
Once in my recovery room, Brad and I just stared and loved on this beautiful miracle...this beautiful mix of Ella Rae and Alden. I recovered well and have had no issues since coming home - praise God! Little Haven is a sweet and easy baby...so far! We are truly blessed!

Oh and everyone keeps asking me what our boy name was....it was Haven too...Haven Greer if it was boy.  We have had that name on our list (an excel spreadsheet - yes..we’re nerdy like that) for years and one evening it just really grabbed a hold of us. As with the other kids, we write the name on our bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker and stare at it for days to see if it feels right....the name Haven just always felt right! And now we have our precious Haven Claire at home and are loving every minute! Oh and remember the baby shower game where everyone guessed the gender and date...Teresa guessed the date correctly - if only she had picked a pink onesie...she thought boy too.
Ella Rae and Alden adore their baby sister and are doing a great job in their new role as Big Sister and Big Brother!
