Date Night!

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. ~ Genesis 2:24

When you're a parent it isn't always easy to get away for time alone with your spouse. The demands of being a parent, working, and managing a household take over easily. One-on-one time with your “honey” easily fades into the background and threatens to become a thing of the past. Brad and I vow not to let this happen!

While our obligation as parents is a very important and rewarding one, we must remember we were husband and wife first! We met 13 years ago and promised then to always put each other first and our children haven't changed that - they have strengthened it!  Our children need their parents to display a strong and healthy marriage and we can't do that if we never take time out to focus on each other. So we do! Every other Saturday is date night – we eat out somewhere nice, catch a movie, play monopoly at dinner, shop or whatever else we want to do. And it’s absolutely mandatory to HOLD HANDS! Yep – all week long we graciously hold the hands of 2 little ones and usually a bag or 2….this doesn’t easily accommodate for mommy and daddy hand holding! At least every 2 months we get away for an overnight date night! Thanks to a wonderful neighbor who comes to our house and stays with the kiddos.

Date nights strengthen our marriage and they make us better parents. We find that we become a more effective TEAM as parents and our children will benefit from having a happy home life led by two parents who love and respect each other. ( I love you Brad!)
