On Monday, Jan 16th Haven had her first visit to the pediatrician. (I love them BTW) At discharge she weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and by her first visit she weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces (which was Ella Rae's birth weight). Everything checked out great with the exception of the root cause of her beautiful tan....she was very jaundice. The other two kiddos were jaundice as well so I wasn't too terribly worried. We would need to recheck in 48 hours. By the next visit she was still very jaundice (now I'm beginning to worry a bit but she's gaining weight just fine!) and so we would need to recheck again in 48 hours (she's running out of heals to prick) if it was still high, by Friday we would be going home with a light to help her. Our instructions after the second visit were to feed her as much as she'll eat (to flush out the bilirubin) and to put her in indirect sunlight for some Vit D! (this was tricky in January) By the third visit her bilirubin level had dropped, she had gained 6.5 ounces!! and she looked much better!
