Day Five – Maleconsito
The last clinic day; also known as Flat Tire Day. We had not 1 but 2 flat tires within 20 minutes of each other. Spirits high – the tires were changed and we headed for Maleconsito. Although the day didn’t look bright from the beginning, for many, this was the best clinic day yet! We see patient after patient each day, never really having an opportunity to stop and play with the children. But today many of us had a chance to play duck-duck goose, jump rope, blow bubbles and just sit and laugh with the kids. They love the attention and their laughter warms your heart!

Each evening we would worship together as Dan played guitar, we shared stories from our day and Mike delivered a message. It's such a special time with friends! One night Mike said, “my hope is not that you go home to comfort but to discomfort.” Wow! Hearing that really got my attention. And now that we are home to our cozy houses, plentiful water supply, and clean clothes. It’s hard…it’s anything but comfortable.

I will miss the people of Nicaragua and the soil we shared for a week. I look forward to next year!

Thanks for capturing the moment my husband defiled the cross. I also like the picture of him standing back watching all the people change the tire. So glad you guys have those memories and that the people of Nica have the help they so desperately needed.
