O Bright and Cheery Christmas Tree!

We had a wonderful time putting up the Christmas Tree this year! We seriously thought about getting a real one but quickly decided against it (needles everywhere, watering it and oh the lights you have to string).....so we purchased a new artificial tree instead (our old one bit the dust!) We also decided to get some new ornaments and garland to create a fun bright tree for the kiddos - complete with crazy bright garland, large bows, penguins, glittery ornaments and even a top hat for a tree topper!

Many of you know the story of how when we first moved to Georgia in 2004 our christmas ornaments didn't make it in the move. We lost not only decor ornaments, but those that Brad and I had been exchanging since 1997. Our tree has never really been the same since then. Well, we finally have a tree now that feels like us and we LOVE IT! And knowing we can't replace the ornaments we lost - we started a new tradition when Ella Rae was born of getting the kids each a Keepsake Ornament that represents them and their interests over the past year as well as a family ornament. We hang them (and ornaments made by the kids) on a little tabletop tree for now, but next year we'll have to do something different - it filled up quickly.

We have a nativity scene that we put up every year in the dining room. I was sharing the Christmas Story with Ella Rae (and buddy Zachary) the other day while we sat at the table using the figures to tell the story (we also do this with the Little People Nativity). Ella Rae and Zachary decided Baby Jesus was cold and he needed a blanket like Joseph and the other guys. It was so cute to see them take turns putting the blanket on baby Jesus.

We're really looking forward to Christmas morning over here - Brad and I will enjoy our cup of coffee while watching the kids open all their presents. It brings us such joy to watch them having so much fun!

Cardboard boxes are fun!
