March Madness!

It’s been March Madness around here and no I’m not talking basketball! I honestly can’t believe it is April! We had a blessed month filled with fun and a first for our sweet boy! On March 12th Alden began really sitting all by himself! We were at the Children’s Museum downtown when he decided it would be more fun to sit up and play. We’re so proud of you Alden!

One of Ella Rae’s friends from school, Brianna, had an Elmo birthday party at Gymboree one Saturday and she had so much fun. Alden enjoyed watching everyone run around and all the fun colors!

Bedtime has been very interesting around here. Ella Rae has decided that sleeping in her big girl bed is not always fun. She’s been asking to sleep in mommy’s bed and crying when we put her down. After trying things like…talking about what excitement tomorrow brings and a reward system (suckers!!)…what seems to be working now is leaving her door open. “Mommy, weeve door open.” We’ll take it!!

Another first for our boy – on March 15th he started using a sippy cup and doing a pretty good job! This boy is ready for meat and potatoes! He gets so upset watching us all eat “real” food, even after he’s been fed, so we introduced some new items…biter biscuits, bananas in his fresh food feeder, and graham crackers! He even loves to gnaw on raw carrot sticks and apple wedges. He’s not a big fan of mashed avocado yet but I’ll keep trying. Where has the time gone…my precious baby boy is almost 8 months old already?

Several weekends ago we had a slumber party at Papa and Nana’s house! We played outside all weekend. Ella Rae had a great time playing in Nana’s fountain and they both really enjoyed taking the dogs to the park and playing at the playground. Nana prepared delicious food of course…even had pancakes with fruit and Mascarpone! Yummers! Ella Rae was so exhausted that she took her naps on Sat and Sun on the floor in the keeping room on Nana’s blanket. On Sunday we went to visit Great Grandma and Great Aunt Peggy and as usual they had something special for Ella Rae to do. She really enjoyed playing with the little tea set and table. It was a very special visit with Brad’s Grandma who turns 93 in May.

I have to mention that in February we went to the Big Apple Circus. It is a truly unique circus experience. It’s very small circus arena so there are no bad seats…we were on the 2nd row though which was incredible. Aunt Melissa kept Alden so Ella Rae and I could have some special time together. We will definitely go again when it’s in the Atlanta area.

Look at me I'm sitting up! (6 1/2 months)

Alden just smiled at his Great Aunt Peggy!

Alden loved laying on this water bed made for babies at the Children's Museum.

She loves walking around in my shoes.

I love bananas!

Beautiful pictures!! You're little boy is getting so big! My favorite picture is the one of Ella Rae sleeping on the floor. I can't believe she was comfortable in that position! That's hilarious! Growing up, we had a cocker spaniel who slept that exact same way.
